Three Blind Men Have Been Arrested for Trafficking Drugs Worth GH₵ 200 million
The police have released a statement alleging that three visually challenged people were among those seized in connection with a narcotics trafficking operation. The Nigerian National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has recently made several high-profile arrests and drug seizures with an estimated total street value of over N13 billion (GH₵197,432,943.37). 180,000 US Dollars
Vanguard online reported that similar activities took place all throughout Lagos, demonstrating the pervasiveness of the drug trade there. Ikeja, Lagos, is home to the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMAIA), and the NDLEA’s Director for Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, recently reported on the results of three big busts aimed at drug cartels within Amuwo Odofin, Idumota, and the SAHCO shed of the MMAIA.

In another case, a large quantity of Tramadol was found in a hidden warehouse in Surulere owned by a wealthy Idumota businessman named Nwaoha Anayo. A cocaine trafficking ring operating out of Murtala Muhammed International Airport has also been uncovered, leading to the arrest of six of its members.
Furthermore, a visually impaired man, Adamu Hassan, was caught in Abuja with 12 kilogrammes of skunk. Bello Abubakar, the leader of the syndicate, was apprehended after further inquiry into his role.
Muktar Abubakar and Akilu Amadu, two more visually handicapped people, were also detained for their roles in this criminal enterprise.
Mallam Aminu, a blind man, has not been apprehended yet. Osun agents unearthed a massive cannabis cultivation in Owena-Ijesa and confiscated a considerable quantity of the finished product.
In Edo, 603 kilogrammes of illegal narcotics were seized after police searched a trans-loading station in the Avbiosi forest. The states of Ogun, Lagos, and Oyo also made narcotics seizures. The NDLEA is conducting these operations as part of its ongoing fight against drug addiction and trafficking in Nigeria.
